Tufted Hair Grass

Tufted hair grass develops golden, airy infloesence in July, which shimmer with sunlight in a gentle summer breeze. Deschampsia cespitosa seed heads persist through the fall and winter, providing ample food and nesting material for songbirds, while creating an outstanding seasonal textural component to any garden. Commonly found in cool, damp habitats in full sun to partial shade. Deschampsia's deep fiberous root systems provides excellent erosion control, and works well in wet meadow or garden settings.
