Liatris spicata

Dense Blazing Star

Liatris spicata, also known as Blazing star, is a herbaceous bulb forming perennial that adds structural complexity and a vibrant pop of color to any garden setting. Mid to late summer, Blazing Star blooms with a tall, upright inflorescence of bright purple flowers and light, airy foliage. They prefer full sun and a consistent amount of soil moisture. Liatris spicata grows up to 4' tall, with a spread of 1' wide at max. Butterflies, native bees, and even the occasional hummingbird are known to frequent these flowers.
