Phlox divaricata

Woodland Phlox

Phlox divaricata, Woodland phlox, is an abundant native spring blooming perennial found in partial shade to shady environments. Phlox divericata is an excellent plant for woodlands and shady riparian cooridors. From April through May fragrant light purple to blue flowers rise from decumbent stems. Phlox divericata grows 12-18' tall, and can gradually form colonies from short rhizomes and seed. They attract many spring pollinators, and are a nectar source for butterflies.
