Sparganium eurycarpum

Greater Bur-Reed

Not only is Sparganium eurycarpum, Greater bur-reed, good for providing food and habitat for wildlife, these plants are also extremely useful for improving and maintaining water quality by absorbing nutrients and stabilizing waterlogged areas. Growing 6-7' tall, Greater bur-reed grows in shallow water or flooded soils in sun to part shade. The "burs" are soft-prickly and are not dangerous.
